The film tells of 40-year-old Marina, who in Germany once again works 24 hours a day and 7 days a week as a caregiver in a German private household. The man she has cared for for the last few months passed away last night, and now she is sitting on the sofa in the living room waiting for her relatives to hand over the keys. Sitting there, she talks about her work, motivation and individual experiences in a monologue. The deceased's home is not left as a hermetic setting for everyday working and living life throughout the film.

Reason:

With this film, Julia Rösler and “Werkgruppe 2” create an insightful study of Eastern European nurses who feed entire families through their work in wealthy countries. Marina, the woman at the center, stands for many and speaks for many. Barely noticed by the public and often shamelessly exploited by their “employers,” they carry out activities that members of wealthy societies are too bad for.

“Marina” provides insights into labor migration that covers entire continents, which is not wanted by anyone and which massively endangers social structures in poorer countries. And yet it is becoming more and more extensive.
