About us
Vision
look&roll is an international short film festival that brings diverse perspectives on disability, chronic illness and neurodivergence to the forefront—experiences and realities that are fundamental to our collective culture. Through film, we create spaces where stories can be shared, social norms can be questioned, and meaningful encounters can take place—encounters that are still far too rare in our society.
Since 2006, look&roll has been presenting outstanding films in both form and content that celebrate lived experiences and individuals who are often marginalised or portrayed through tropes in film. The carefully curated selection stands out not only for its storytelling quality, but also for its thoughtful approach to filmmaking—one that considers accessibility and diversity throughout the creative process. All films are shown with audio descriptions, descriptive subtitles, induction equipment and accessible infrastructure.
For each edition of the festival, we put together a new selection committee and jury, which consists of filmmakers, experts and activists with and without disabilities. Many of the films explore social barriers and mechanisms of exclusion, while others portray people with disabilities or chronic illnesses in everyday roles—beyond reduction, inspiration tropes, or dramatization. In doing so, look&roll sends a powerful message for a more inclusive film culture while also making structural barriers within the film industry visible.
The festival offers access for all visitors and promotes a joint exchange within the community of filmmakers, experts, and activists who work for accessibility and equality for people with disabilities, chronic diseases, and neurodivergence.
