BARRIER-FREE CINEMA
audio description
Audio description in cinema provides blind and visually impaired people with an accessible movie experience. During the film's dialogue breaks, a plot description is read out. In the original version of foreign-language films, the German-language subtitles are also read out and thus also make the film accessible to people who cannot read or can only read to a limited extent. The involvement of blind people in the production of an audio description, but at the latest during quality control, is key. At look&roll, every manuscript has been written together with our blind or severely visually impaired network partners since 2006 “de-script” worked out. In doing so, we are responding to the not yet consistently implemented output of audio descriptions in cinema.
