The retirement and nursing home that this film takes us to is not simply a place of illness, loneliness and decay — although you can also find it all there. We also encounter joie de vivre, joy and beauty. Last but not least, the young psychologist Tomek ensures this. When he jokes with the residents, plays cards, plays music, smokes or practices delicate movements with a retired ballet dancer, magical moments arise. “A decrescendo is really a crescendo, because everything becomes more important as we have less time and the importance of emotions also increases.” — Marta Minorowicz
