The 90-year-old Nico van Hasselt has worked as a doctor in Amsterdam since 1956. He passionately cares about his patients and makes more than ten home visits every day. He does not see his task as submitting to the healthcare system; he focuses on people. But the older he gets, the more powerful the health insurance companies become and it is questionable how long he will be able to continue his role as shepherd for his patients. He faces severe attacks from bureaucracy, whose rules make it increasingly difficult to diligently serve the sick. The portrait of a doctor that you hardly find today.
