213 Things About Me

The American singer Cate Warren lived with Asperger and was one of the so-called “idiots savants.” When director Richard Butchins asked them to describe their most important features, he was given a list of 213 things. The notes include notes such as “My report card said: 'Don't play properly with other children... 'or: 'Don't try to adapt... › But that's not entirely true, because my whole existence consists of nothing but focusing and trying to adapt.” The film condenses Cate's intelligent, humorous and often desperate statements into an oppressive personal statement. In 2013, Cate gave up and took her own life. A harrowing documentary about the tragedy of personalities who deviate too much from the uniformity of modern society.
